It will show "Please Wait" and it will beep, on and on and on. The device has been designed to act broken when the battery dies. It IS the battery Jose, so please correct your comments and offer true service in the form of free advice like: try replacing the battery. Do not take your radio to the service center as suggested by Jose. This time, the battery cost me about $15 including shipping. I bought a new battery and BINGO! Problem solved! It's easy to assume there is something wrong with your expensive device, but fret no more. I'm afraid to update the firmware, because Sirius/XM might delete this capacity. These older Innos keep the recording indefinitely. The new ones will let you rewind or replay, or let you temporarily keep a recording for a limited time. Once these models are out of circulation, we will never have the recording feature again. I suggest gambling the $14 on a battery to see if it will fix your problems. The ability to record songs using it's MP3 feature is not available on newer radios, so it is well worth the cost of replacing the battery or repairing. My radio is a portable Pioneer Inno which I have used for several years, both in the cradle attached to my Bose radio, and also portably with a headset or when connected to my motorcycle's (Honda Goldwing) sound system. In any case, this can cause the radio to show "Please Wait" and it will never boot up and start operating, nor will it charge. I'm guessing that the battery had a short or possibly was completely dead and no longer rechargeable. My experience proves that replacing the battery can solve this problem. I installed the new battery and the radio instantly began working properly. As a last attempt to resolve the issue myself, I ordered a fourteen dollar battery from Amazon. Tech support was unable to figure out why, so they said my radio was no longer useful and they tried to sell me a new radio for $159. Placing the radio in the cradle, whether with or without the battery, made no difference AND the radio showed no power out of the cradle on battery power alone. It would endlessly cycle through this message. When placing it in the cradle, it would show "Please Wait", then it would beep, go blank and then show "Please Wait" again. On Wednesday, Sept 17th, 2014, I called into Sirius/XM for tech support because my radio would not boot up. I have informed Sirius/XM hopefully others will try replacing their battery before disposing of their perfectly good radio. I'm guessing that the radio will simply not function at all, in or out of the cradle, with or without the battery installed, if the battery goes haywire. As soon as I installed the new battery, the radio began working perfectly again, both in and out of the cradle. Instead of buying a new radio, I bought a new battery off Amazon for $14. I called Sirus/XM and they said the radio was no longer useful, then they tried to sell me a new radio for $159. It would not show "battery charging" as it would have normally. When I placed the radio back in the cradle, it gave the "Please Wait" message, then it would beep, go blank, then show "Please Wait" again, over and over. The battery went completely dead, or at least it seemed so. Recently, I removed it from the cradle and left it out for about a week. REPLACE THE BATTERY! I have had my Pioneer Inno for several years.
